About Us

Redeemer Lutheran Preschool Teaching Children the Essentials: Patience, Kindness, Confidence, and Love.

Purpose, Goals, and PhilosophyClick For Fullsize
Redeemer Lutheran Preschool’s purpose is to provide a developmentally appropriate program for preschool children in a Christian atmosphere.
Some of our goals include:

We know children learn about their world and their relationships with others through play. Therefore, we use play to teach cooperation and to foster children’s self esteem.
“For a child to grow and learn he [or she] must feel loved and secure. This is happening at the preschool all the time.”

Class InformationClick For Fullsize
The preschool operates from September through May. Classes are offered for children 2.5 to 4 years old. Each class is age appropriate. Therefore, class placement is determined by the child’s age on March 31 for two year olds and September 30 for all others regardless of when a child begins during the school year.

We offer morning classes from 8:30-11:30 and afternoon classes from 12-3. Students may enroll in either session.

Two and one half Year Olds - 1 Class
2 mornings (T,Th)

Three Year Olds - 4 Classes

Redeemer Lutheran Preschool does not discriminate on the basis of race, color or national and ethnic origin in admission or administration of its educational policies.

CurriculumClick For Fullsize
We use the Creative Cirriculum by Teaching Strategies, Inc. Each day has self-directed play which allows a child to transition comfortably into the day’s scheduled activities, which include:

“The curriculum has a good balance of structure and free time so that kids of all maturity levels and abilities can succeed.”

Staff
Our staff includes a teacher and teacher’s aide for each class who are trained in early childhood and/or elementary education, have extensive experience, and meet or exceed all state requirements.
“I would recommend Redeemer Preschool because of the love and sense of community its staff creates. It’s obvious they care a great deal about the children.”

Field Trips
Field trips extend children’s learning opportunities and therefore are included in our curriculum. Some are held at the preschool and others require travel. Possible trips include:

Parent ParticipationClick For Fullsize
Parent participation is welcome at the preschool in and out of the classroom. We especially need help with chaperoning field trips and semiannual consignment sales. Other opportunities for parental involvement include Parent’s Night, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas program, Mother’s Day Luncheon and Graduation.

FacilityClick For Fullsize
The preschool moved into a new wing in September 2001. We occupy five bright, well-equipped classrooms and have access to a large gymnasium during inclement weather. Our modern playground was constructed in 2000 and has had several newer pieces added since then.

Transportation
Transportation to and from the preschool is the responsibility of parents. Our staff is happy to assist with car pool arrangements. Redeemer Lutheran Preschool is conveniently located in central McLean at the corner of Chain Bridge Road and Westmoreland Street. See our Map.

VisitationClick For Fullsize
